Out of a movie!
Villa il Cardinale tucked away in the Roman hills, was magical. We visited with our married children, their spouses and our 6 grandchildren. A family of 12. The villa accommodated us very well with its beautifully appointed spacious old-world rooms. There is a pool, and this was a real plus especially for the children! If you are looking for a retreat, a place of peace and serenity to get away from the busy streets while visiting Rome, this is it. The owner Marina and her staff member Stephania were very welcoming, kind and accommodating. Both truly went the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful and most memorable stay!

This is a villa that is perfect for a group of friends or a family.
Villa il Cardinale is an amazing place to stay while in Rome:
- beautiful villa with a lot of history. High ceilings, tasteful furniture, great bedding, lots of space…
- the beautiful garden is huge with multiple different areas to relax in and eat/have a drink
- location is great, just a 25mn drive to Rome’s historical center or 10mn to the subway that gets you to Rome center in 14mn (best if you want to avoid Roman traffic at peak hour)
- Marina is incredibly friendly and had grwat recommendations. I highly recommend the pizza night
This is a villa that is perfect for a group of friends or a family. I was there with 3 young children (5-7y) and 2 older family members and the villa suited all of our needs. We will definitely come back!

This will forever be a special place and time in my heart!
Marina and Stefania communicated with me throught the whole process. You cannot place a value on yhis incredible ancient historical home. It was dreamy! We enjoyed ourselves in the courtyard where we made many family memories. I cooked dinner our last night and the kitchen was well stocked. Our children enjoyed the swimming pool. It was very private and the gardens are what is told in storybooks. We had a pizza night that you can't experience anywhere else! I will one day return to hug all those I fell in love with there. Marina spent time with us on pizza night and talked to us about history and art! This will forever be a special place and time in my heart!

“Midsummers Night Roman Dream”
Villa Il Cardinale’s magical position on a hill outside the centre of Rome is the perfect setting for a step back in time. The rose- pink Villa is more than a home, it is a treasure full of loved objects, books, photographs and paintings. Perfect for lovers of history, Art, gardens , fresh lemons and, of course, for lovers, new and old. We had our marriage blessing in the garden surrounded by family and friends and it felt both intimate and public with olive and lemon trees, a Roman Font and 2nd century wall as silent witnesses. Marina and her team were unobtrusive and helpful and we cannot thank you enough. It was beyond expectations.

My husband and I stayed at the villa with 12 friends over a weekend at the end of October this year. On the Saturday we welcomed more friends and family for a party to celebrate our wedding. It was a very special time and the villa provided the perfect backdrop. It's a gorgeous old home with great space for entertaining, beautiful gardens and plenty of comforts. This is a unique find, you can expect to feel very much at home even if you're only there for a few days. Marina and Stefania, who helps with the house, were both warm, attentive and very helpful throughout. We really wouldn't change a thing.
